Odfjell's chemical tankers have logged their best earnings for five years but face increased competition from product tankers.
The Oslo-listed group said rates had been stable in the fourth quarter, but a very weak clean market and increasing fuel prices kept pressure on the bottom line.
The increased amount of product tanker "swing tonnage" meant the usual winter rate strength did not materialise.
