The US Coast Guard (USCG) is investigating a Japanese-controlled bulker after a port-state-control inspection led to allegations that the vessel violated pollution laws.
Authorities are accusing the 33,500-dwt Atlantic Oasis (built 2011), which is owned by Nitta Kisen Kaisha, of violating the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships, the US law that codifies the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (Marpol).
