Shipowners importing LNG into Myanmar could potentially fall victim to any fresh sanctions imposed by the US government following the recent military coup, according to analysts.
On 1 February, the Myanmar military seized power from the Aung San Suu Kyi-led government and declared a one-year state of emergency after detaining her and other key officials.
The coup has been described as a devastating setback for the country’s democratic development after years of efforts to shake off the impacts of decades of military rule.
