Nigerian gunmen reportedly cut into a citadel or muster room using ship's tools during the fatal attack on the Borealis Maritime-owned, 2,824-teu boxship Mozart (built 2007).
One seafarer was shot dead in the raid on 23 January off Sao Tome and Principe, and 15 of his colleagues were kidnapped.
Details of the incident have remained sparse. Technical manager Boden Maritime only mentioned a "brutal attack" in a statement, while maritime security companies reported the "citadel" had been breached by the pirates.
