Connecticut-based Eagle Bulk has acquired its fourth vessel from New York-listed Scorpio Bulkers in recent weeks with purchase of a 2017-built, scrubber-fitted ultramax.
The deal was separately announced by Eagle, Scorpio and Oslo-listed Ocean Yield, which owned the 64,000-dwt SBI Virgo under a sale-leaseback arrangement with the Emanuele Lauro-led owner.
The twist in this case is that for the first time as a public company, Gary Vogel-led Eagle Bulk is using its shares to fund part of the purchase price.
