Trader Trafigura said it has been carrying out sea and laboratory trials on new biofuel blends through its TFG Marine joint venture with John Fredriksen's Frontline and Golden Ocean.
Initial tests show safe and effective use of both the B30 blend, composed of 30% waste oil feedstock and 70% very low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), and B20, which is 20% biodiesel and 80% VLSFO.
