US-based bulker owner Interlake Holding has bought one of the most unique ferry operators anywhere in the world.
Its deal to acquire the assets of the Lake Michigan Carferry Service (LMC) on Wednesday made it the owner of the world’s last large coal-fired passenger vessels.
Interlake, which is the parent of Great Lakes bulker company Interlake Steamship, has revealed that it bought over the assets of both LMC and affiliated barge operator Pere Marquette Shipping.
