Offshore support vessel owners are hampering a potential recovery by sitting on idle tonnage in the hope that rivals will scrap their ships first.
That is the view of analysts at Danish Ship Finance (DSF), which said older and laid-up ships have to depart the scene in a weak market.
This entails owners, and their banks, writing off some of the value of their fleets, the financier said in its latest shipping report.
