An affiliate of Alpha Bulkers Shipmanagement has taken Jiangsu Steamship to court over delayed coal discharges as a trade dispute rages between Australia and China.
The Greek shipmanager's Link Investment affiliate sued in the US federal court for South Carolina on 5 November.
The dispute comes after a company called Jiangsu Singapore chartered the 170,387-dwt Alpha Era (built 2000) in April to carry more than 135,000 tonnes of Australian coal to China, legal documents show
When the ship arrived in Fangcheng on 29 May, it was prevented from offloading the cargo "because of the absence of an import quota/license/allocation, or other necessary permission", Link said in the complaint.
