Ice specialists Aker Arctic Technology, the Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) and the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (FTIA) have joined forces to develop a next generation design of ice-breaker.
The trio have inked a contract on designing the vessels which would work on Baltic Sea escort operations for large merchant ships, as the size of vessels calling at Finnish and Swedish ports continues to grow.
