Safe Bulkers has ordered a kamsarmax bulk carrier in Japan that will be built to a low-emission, fuel-efficient design.
No price was disclosed for the 82,000-dwt newbuilding, which is due for delivery in the first half of 2022 and is part of the New York-listed shipowner's fleet renewal process.
Loukas Barmparis, president of the Greek outfit, told TradeWinds that the newbuilding is "one of the best vessels out there".
