A group of environmental lobby groups has called on governments to reject a deal to cut shipping’s greenhouse gas emissions that is progressing through the International Maritime Organization.
The deal effectively merges three main proposals from a variety of countries — including Japan, Norway, Germany, Spain, China, Greece and Brazil — into a compromise package. The deal is set for consideration at a key IMO meeting next week.
