First hydrogen carrier set to ship Australian cargo next year

A pioneering liquefied hydrogen carrier will ship a first cargo from Australia in 2021 and undertake initial trials this year in Japan.

Yukichi Takaoka, who is senior staff officer in the technology development department of the Hydrogen Energy Supply-­Chain Technology Research Association (HySTRA), said the pilot newbuilding will this year start the first of two-stage demonstration test in the port of Kobe in Japan.
