The demolition sale of a capesize bulker for more than $400 per ldt has led to hopes that recycling prices are on the rise.
Some scrap brokers said Cyprus-based Laredo Marine has sold the 171,000-dwt Parker (built 1996) for well above $400 per ldt. The deal, which gives the buyer the option to choose which demolition market to deliver the ship, equates to a total price of about $8.4m.
