Operations at Samsung Heavy Industries have been partially suspended for the second time this month after a fire hit its Geoje yard.
The blaze began in a cooling installation on Wednesday, the Yonhap news agency said.
No injuries were reported and the flames were quickly extinguished, but the country's labour ministry ordered a partial shut-down of the site.
The incident comes after six people were killed and 25 injured when two cranes collided at the Geoje plant.
