Pakistan’s shiprecyclers are ready to pay substantially more for tonnage as they stock up and look to get back into the market.
The country has not been fully committed to the recycling market for several months and its bid to fill its beaching yards and catch up with rivals has seen it pay a premium for tonnage.
GMS, a leading buyer of ships for demolition, described the prices on offer from the country as “astounding”.
