A judge has ruled the widow of a man who died in a fall while demolishing a Maran Tankers VLCC in Bangladesh can pursue a compensation claim through the UK courts.
The ruling is not a direct judgment on the actions of the Angelicoussis Group's UK company, Maran Tankers. But, the premise that such claims are legitimate could open the door for hundreds of similar actions against shipowners for death or injury suffered while demolishing ships.
