US sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and a Chinese owner kicked in Monday after a six-month wind-down period.
In December, the US announced IRISL and Shanghai-based ESAIL Shipping Company would be added to its blacklist in 180 days over allegations the two aided Iran in its development of weapons of mass destruction by transporting goods for its missile industry.
