A gunfight between armed guards on a Stolt-Neilsen chemical tanker and pirates operating off Yemen has raised concerns among underwriters over ship security in the region during the pandemic.
The attack on the 32,000-dwt Stolt Apal (built 2016) earlier this week led to an explosion in the exchange of fire, which destroyed one of two pirate skiffs that approached the vessel.
