Transmed Shipping of Greece has doubled its VLCC tonnage with two purchases on the secondhand market this year, TradeWinds is told.
In the latest deal this week, the Charalambos Mylonas-led company agreed to buy NS United’s 302,000-dwt Yugawasan (built 2005) for $33.3m. Transmed will be taking delivery of the Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co-built vessel in May.
Shipping players say around ten inspections were carried out on the crude carrier when it was in Singapore last month.
