Asbestos continues to be a major health risk to seafarers and recycling workers, according to hazard waste surveys carried out under the European Union Ship Recycling Regulation.
The threat has been revealed as all ships trading in European waters have been required to undergo an inventory of hazardous materials (IHM) survey before the end of the year under the EU rules.
