Denmark's Maersk Tankers is trying to keep hold of new fathers by increasing their parental leave.
The product tanker player said male staff worldwide will receive four weeks off with full pay.
This means an extra two weeks on top of required leave in Denmark, Singapore and the US, and another three weeks in Romania and India.
The measure applies to shore staff only and the time must be taken in the first year after a child is born.
