An MSC boxship master has reported an attempt by at least eight pirates to board his vessel off Togo.
Security consultancy Ambrey reported that the captain issued a distress call while the 3,007-teu MSC Nederland (built 1992) was anchored 3 nautical miles (5.5 km) off the port of Lome in Togo on Monday.
He said about eight people in one boat were alongside, "throwing ropes and hooks and climbing onboard".
