Performance Shipping has confirmed market rumours that it plans to buy a third aframax tanker for about $26m.
TradeWinds reported Friday that the Simeon Palios-led owner committed to buying 115,600-dwt Virgo Sun (built 2007) at that price, according to Athens-based sources.
The Sasebo Heavy Industries-built ship is currently owned by UK-based Zodiac Maritime, according to Performance strategy chief Ioannis Zafirakis.
