Mitsui E&S is to planning dramatic cut backs to production at its main Chiba shipyard as part of a painful company restructuring plan that will affect 1,000 jobs.
The production cut backs fall short of the reported closure of its main Chiba shipbuilding facility. However, a Mitsui official told TradeWinds yard that it will be scaling down on production.
"We are not planning to build large ships such as VLCC at Chiba because it is not profitable.
