Greek shipowners have been the most active in the secondhand market this year, splashing $2.5bn on vessels.
This is according to Allied Shipping Research data, which shows Greeks bought 173 ships to mid-October.
This puts them ahead of Chinese rivals, who were ahead at the end of September.
