MISC’s announcement earlier this month that it was building two new LNG carriers at Samsung Heavy Industries against a 15-year charter contract with ExxonMobil's SeaRiver Maritime came as something of a surprise to the industry as the company has previously tended to concentrate on business for parent company Petronas.
However, MISC president and group chief executive Yee Yang Chien wanted to clear up any market misconceptions that MISC only focused on the LNG shipping business of Petronas.
