A judge in London has found Greek shipowner Ion Varouxakis personally liable for at least $800,000 in damages in a dispute with an insurer, and he could be ordered to pay up more in a future hearing.
Deputy judge Adrian Beltrami entered a default judgment last Monday in favour of Griffin Underwriting, after Varouxakis stopped engaging with court proceedings and his defence was struck out.
