Iran has said it will free seven of the 23 seafarers held on the detained Stena Bulk tanker Stena Impero.
The five Indians, a Latvian and a Russian will be released on humanitarian grounds, a foreign ministry spokesman told state television.
They have already left the UK-flagged, 50,000-dwt vessel (built 2018), which was seized in July in the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for Gibraltar arresting the Iranian VLCC Grace 1.
