Chinese refiners are calling for tax changes before they start producing low-sulphur fuel oil (LSFO).
Reuters cited oil company executives as saying the government must waive a CNY 1,218 ($177) per tonne consumption tax, and offer rebates on the 13% VAT levied on fuel oil.
Sinopec, PetroChina and CNOOC have lobbied for the tax changes.
