Gemini Shipholdings, an affiliate of US-listed boxship player Danaos Corp, has made its first purchase in more than three years.

The John Coustas-led outfit bought the 8,500-teu Parsifal (built 2006), a senior Danaos official confirmed.

Several brokers attributed the Parsifal buy to Danaos directly, but Danaos chief financial officer Evangelos Chatzis said this was inaccurate.

Chatzis did not comment on the acquisition price for the Parsifal, which brokers in the US, UK and Greece put at $25m.
