The Coalition for Responsible Transportation (CRT) is opposing new proposals to enforce slow-steaming for ships through the IMO.
The US-based organisation, which includes shippers like Amazon, supports green house gas (GHG) reduction goals but feels speed reductions should be voluntary.
"Without a recognition of the complete supply chain, mandated speed restrictions for all vessels at sea will be counterproductive," it added.
