Two big-name Greek shipowners are exploring tanker newbuilding orders in China at a time of rising appetite in the sector, in contrast to the limited interest in new bulk carriers.
Chartworld Shipping and Tsakos Group of Greece are looking at deals that could see 12 new crude tankers booked at Chinese yards.
“China is better known for building simple bulk carriers and not tankers,” said a shipbuilding player.
