Nakilat has been advancing the prospect of sending a Q-Flex LNG carrier through the expanded Panama Canal.
The Qatari shipping giant said today: “Nakilat has conducted compatibility studies and thorough assessments of Q-Flex class LNG carriers on safely transiting through the new locks in the near future.”
When the expanded Panama Canal was opened in 2016k, it opened up the key waterway for 80% of the LNG carrier fleet along with large containerships under the neopanamax bracket.
