Teekay Shipping has joined a growing list of prominent shipowners hoping to level the playing field for sustainable shiprecycling by joining the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI) launched in March last year to improve disclosure on corporate shiprecycling policies.
The SRTI platform, which is hosted by the global sustainability non-profit outfit Forum for the Future and independent charity Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI), allows shipowners share their shiprecycling policies and practices on a publicly available database to raise awareness of what is happening and put pressure on under-performers.
