Australia has warned that an environmental disaster is looming in the Solomon Islands as little progress is made in tackling an oil spill from a grounded bulker.
The 74,000-dwt Solomon Trader (built 1994) lodged on a reef in Kangava Bay off Rennell Island on 5 February, next to a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Australian High Commission in the islands said footage revealed that the leak is continuing.
