The Tsakos Group has booked its first suezmax newbuildings at Hyundai Heavy Industries in 15 years.
Market sources identified the Greek owner as behind the order for a pair of suezmaxes revealed by the South Korean yard last week.
Some are connecting the tankers to time-charter employment with Chevron.
HHI announced then that an unnamed European shipowner is paying $130m for the two 158,000-dwt vessels, which will be delivered from the second half of 2020 onwards.
