Save Falls of Clyde International is adamant that it wants the 141-year-old tall ship to have a new life as an operating vessel.
Its plans for business areas that can make the ship self-sustaining include:
- Education at sea and sea cadet training
- Carrying fair trade cargoes
- Sail adventure holidays
- Ocean plastic waste collection and recycling
- Charters for scientific research.
The organisation says these operations can “offer adequate funding to ensure that the ship is taken care of over the rest of its operational life while offering opportunities for jobs, skills training and travel to communities”.
