Norway's Awilco LNG has said it is working with other LNG carrier owners on a consolidation plan for the industry.
The aim is to establish "a consolidated LNG shipping structure that may offer scale and create commercial and financial synergies," it added.
It was responding to reports that cooperation may be on the cards in the booming sector.
No agreement has yet been reached, however, and Awilco said there was no guarantee that a deal would be sealed.
