JERA will have “inherent” exposure to LNG bunkering after further integration with key shareholder Chubu Electric Power, according to JERA chairman Hendrik Gordenker.
In July, Chubu teamed up with NYK Line, K Line and Toyota Tsusho to launch an LNG bunkering project in Ise Bay, in Japan’s Nagoya region.
Meanwhile, JERA has been positioned to take over the Japanese utility's fuel business from next April.
