A UK freight forwarders association has slammed plans by Maersk Line to recoup the cost of low-sulphur fuels through surcharges on boxes.
The Danish owner said this week it was potentially adding hundreds of dollars to each container to recover an estimated $2bn in extra bunker bills.
The bunker adjustment factor (BAF) charge enters into force next January, a year ahead of IMO's new fuel rules.
