Baltic Exchange chief executive Mark Jackson has outlined to TradeWinds steps taken to prevent brokers being excluded from market transactions, how the accuracy of indices is being protected and development of a "New Baltic Code".
He says the "Calculating Agent" concept was announced in April 2017, whereby any company with physical freight contracts that reference Baltic data would be required to use a Baltic panellist to calculate a settlement price or prices.
