Genco Shipping & Trading is adding two more capesizes to its fleet one month after sealing a deal for four secondhand bulkers from Eyal Ofer's Zodiac Maritime.
The New York-listed Genco said it would acquire two 180,000-dwt capesizes built in South Korea in 2016. The en bloc purchase price is $98m.
The latest acquisition, along with the Zodiac transaction, will bring Genco's capesize fleet up to 17 ships from 13 on-the-water currently, "which is significant" Genco chief executive John Wobensmith said.
