Norwegian shipowner Torvald Klaveness has signed up for a study on the extent of plastic waste in the world's oceans.
It is teaming up with the Institute of Marine Research, technology group Kongsberg and the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association.
The partnership will develop a pilot project with the aim of mapping marine plastic.
Up to five bulkers will be equipped with advanced sensors to collect data during regular trade.
