Stamatis Molaris-controlled Empire Navigation is in advanced talks with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) over a potential order for a series of tanker newbuildings, as the Greek company aims to rebuild its fleet.
Shipbuilding sources said the shipowner is planning to order up to eight MR product carriers that would be worth more than $280m at the South Korean yard. It is looking to have the 50,000-dwt tankers delivered in 2020.
