Ian Denholm, a leading figure in British shipping considered to be the father of the ship management industry, has died at the age of 91.
John Ferguson Denholm, called Ian from the outset, was born on 8 May 1927, the eldest child of William and Dorothy Denholm. He was educated at St Mary’s and Loretto, leaving school at the age of 17 in 1944 to go to sea at the insistence of his father.
