Thomas Burkle will stay on as chairman of the managing board of German bank Nord/LB until the end of 2021.

The supervisory board of the shipping lender said it had decided to renew his contract.

Burkle took the role on 1 January last year. He was previously chief risk officer.

The 65-year-old graduate economist has held management positions for the Nord/LB group within Germany and abroad since 2002, including being chairman of subsidiary Deutsche Hypo.
