The Indonesia-to-Japan crude trade is being hit by the general decline in Japanese oil imports, which is forcing operators to restructure their fleets.
The trend was highlighted in March with the sale of four aframax tankers by Singapore-based Diamond Tanker, an offshore subsidiary of giant Japanese trading house Mitsubishi. The sell-off is being viewed as an indication of shrinking trade volumes between Indonesia and Japan.
