Oldendorff Carriers has become the latest high profile shipowner to sign up to the Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI).
The German bulker giant joins the likes of IMC Shipping, Louis Dreyfus and Maersk in backing the charity that is campaigning for a sustainable shipping industry.
It has around 700 bulk carriers under operation at any one time and since 2014, has invested in around 60 ‘eco’ newbuildings at yards in China, Korea and Japan.
