A large part of the hull insurance on the huge AP Moller-Maersk fleet is sailing from the Lloyd’s of London market, with Gard the likely destination.
The Danish shipping giant has failed to agree terms for the 1 June renewal with XL Catlin, the long-term leader of its hull-insurance programme.
Maersk is understood to be negotiating for Gard to become lead underwriter, which would be a major coup for the Norwegian protection and indemnity club.
